Microwave Product Digest Features TriQuint GaAs Modules for LTE Performance Advantage

February 20, 2014 — In the January 2014 issue of Microwave Product Digest, TriQuint's Phil Warder, System Architect for mobile devices, highlights how gallium arsenide (GaAs)–based front-end modules help drive LTE performance in 3G / 4G smartphones. The featured article explains how TriQuint's multi-mode, multi-band power amplifiers (MMPAs) — highly integrated front-end modules that combine high-performance GaAs power amplifiers (PAs) with a CMOS controller and silicon-based switches — are one strategy that the company employs to help front-end designers address today's complex RF challenges. Filters are another important element of providing a complete solution.

"Fully-loaded GaAs front-end modules are proven winners for providing superior performance, small size, and high efficiency for LTE smartphones," writes Phil in the article. "Leveraging the advantages of GaAs as well as the benefits of other technologies (e.g., silicon), is an effective way to maximize performance and cost-effectiveness while providing a complete front-end solution."
